Abstract
Learner autonomy has become an important orientation in polytechnic English teaching reforms. However, there exists some blind tendency in the practice of fostering autonomous learning. The results of a survey in Ji’nan Engineering Polytechnic suggest that the pertinent degree of learner autonomy should be controlled moderately according to the reality of learners themselves and the teaching aims of autonomous learning should be achieved gradually.
