“Reading-Discussion-Writing Integrated Practice” in the English Writing Course

Abstract

Nowadays the English writing course in the independent college in China is challenged by problems from three aspects, the teaching target problem, the teaching process and method problem, and the evaluation problem. This thesis focuses on how to succeed in the “Reading-Discussion-Writing Integrated Practice” based on the concept of CLIL in the English writing course of an independent college and thus raises suggestions to solve the problems concerning the three aspects. The English writing course of an independent college should target at meeting the demands of the talent market for a college student in an independent college by providing him practical knowledge and abilities; “Reading-Discussion-Writing Integrated Practice” should be applied to the English course and closer relationships should be established between the writing course and other courses, mainly the listening course and the reading course; modern technology works as a great helper to the time and space expand of the writing class; formative evaluation takes place of summative evaluation, emphasis given to the writing process and content of a writing piece of a student.
