Abstract
Using the IV probit model with instrumental variables and the cross-sectional data of the Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) in 2013, this paper studies the influence of women’s educational level and other personal and family characteristics variables on their divorce tendency. In order to overcome the potential endogenous problems in the model, this paper chooses the mother’s education level as an endogenous variable and the female’ education level as a tool variable. The empirical results show that the higher the education level of women, the greater the probability of divorce.
