Abstract
This paper gives a brief account of the three theoretical systems of western linguistics and their philosophical foundations in the past 50 years, and summarizes the practice of linguistic research in the branch disciplines based on these theories. This paper explores the close relationship between the theory of multiple intelligences and Western linguistics, as well as the impact of multiple intelligences on foreign language teaching in terms of objectives, processes and evaluations. Moreover, the investigation and analysis of the humanistic research orientation embodied in it. The results show that Western linguistics should give full play to the role of multiple intelligence theory and effectively combine it with foreign language teaching to improve students' enthusiasm for foreign language learning and language application ability
