Abstract

The Chinese fine brushwork painting is inseparable from the “freehand brushwork” spirit no matter how the forms and contents are changed. The “freehand brushwork spirit” is a concept of artistic creation in China. It is reflected in fine brushwork paintings through line drawing and the color usage, which is confirmed by the analysis of line and color drawing in this paper. Through strengthening the expression of the “freehand spirit”, fine brushwork paintings show the aesthetic essence of traditional Chinese paintings. The “freehand brushwork spirit” is not only the essence of Chinese art, but also the essence of the world art since it enriches the treasure house of world cultural heritage.
