Abstract
Both modernism and postmodernism are the most thorough design movement implementing the “people-oriented” design concept in the history of western design. From a practical point of view, modernist design emphasizes the functionality of design and satisfies people's material needs. As an amendment and supplement of modernist design, postmodernism pays more attentions to meeting people's spiritual and emotional needs.
