Abstract

The in-depth development of college English teaching reform has made the construction of elective course system an inevitable trend. All local colleges and universities should have a clear understanding of the target orientation of the elective course system. Medical colleges can be positioned to play the instrumental and humanistic aspects of English, meet the needs of social development and personal development, and cultivate compound talents. The construction of the elective course system should follow four principles: the combination of professional and English, the combination of life sciences and humanities, the combination of theory and practice, and the combination of compulsory and elective; according to the above principles, the parallelogram form is proposed. The curriculum system provides a useful exploration for medical colleges to improve the quality of English teaching and cultivate compound talents.
