Abstract

As an artist in China’s contemporary film history, Zhang Yimou directs films with strong traditional color aesthetics, a highlight of the film Shadow which has already made its world premiere at the Venice film festival. This paper mainly explores traditional color esthetics expression in the film named Shadow directed by Zhang, in order to promote the skillful use of traditional colors in films.
