Abstract
The Grass Is Singing, published in 1950, is the first novel written by British Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. It tells a story of Mary, the heroine, being killed by her black houseboy. The novel which sets in the southern African colony, describes the racial tensions in colonial region and the miserable life of black people.
