Abstract
In an increasingly interconnected world, universities face growing pressure to internationalize their curricula and prepare students for global citizenship. Traditional methods, such as study abroad programs, remain valuable but are often inaccessible due to cost, visa restrictions, or health crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), a pedagogical model that fosters virtual cross-border collaboration, offers a scalable and inclusive alternative. This article explores how COIL enhances internationalization by democratizing access to global learning, fostering intercultural competence, and building institutional partnerships. Drawing on case studies and empirical research, it argues that COIL is not merely a stopgap for physical mobility but a transformative tool for redefining international education in the 21st century.
