Abstract
Cactus, a widely distributed medicinal plant, has gained more attention, and interest in cactus has increased as people become more aware of the health benefits of eating a diverse diet. Therefore, the relationship between cactus and diabetes has been studied to assess its nutritional and chemical properties related to diabetes. The results show that these crops contain many essential polysaccharides, lipids, proteins, vitamins and other nutrients, which are known for their hypoglycemic, immunomodulatory, neuroprotective and other effects. In addition to the effect of lowering blood sugar, the cactus has an improvement effect on complications of diabetes. Overall, this review focuses on the nutritional and physicochemical properties of cactus, as well as their anti-diabetic and anti-diabetic mechanisms, in order to provide a reference for further research and development of cactus.
