Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of metformin alone, lifestyle alone, metformin combined with lifestyle intervention and placebo control on physiological indexes of pre-diabetic patients. Adult patients who met the diagnostic criteria of pre-diabetes were randomly divided into four groups, receiving metformin alone (group A), lifestyle alone (group B), metformin combined with lifestyle intervention (group C) and placebo control (group D). The intervention period is one year, during which patients' blood sugar, weight, blood lipid and quality of life are collected regularly. All patients (groups A, B and C) who received the intervention improved their blood sugar level, weight control, blood lipid improvement and quality of life. Among them, group C (metformin combined with lifestyle intervention) showed the best effect on all indicators. In contrast, there was no significant improvement in group D (placebo control). Metformin combined with lifestyle intervention is an effective strategy for pre-diabetes management, which can comprehensively improve the health status of patients.
