Abstract
With the development of society and the increase of life pressure, depression and anxiety have become a vital public health problem. This paper discusses the common depression and anxiety among adolescents, and analyzes its causes and coping strategies. Beginning with an overview of the medical and psychological symptoms and causes of depression and anxiety, this paper analyzes existing treatments, including neurobiological treatments such as antidepressants and psychotherapy, psychotherapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy and interpersonal therapy, and self-therapy such as meditation, ASMR, and self-help Apps. While these medications and treatments can help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, there are limitations, including the side effects of medications, the availability of psychotherapy, and uncertainty about the effectiveness of self-therapy. In addition, the paper further points out that the solution to adolescent depression and anxiety should be taken from the social, psychological and family levels. Changes at the social level, such as restructuring society and reducing pressure on youth, are long-term and necessary. At the same time, improving the availability and quality of psychological treatment and encouraging adolescents to use effective self-therapy are also key to alleviating the problem. Finally, this paper emphasizes that although the problem cannot be completely eliminated in the short term, the incidence and harm degree of depression and anxiety can be significantly reduced through comprehensive interventions. Future research should further explore more effective, safe and easily accessible treatment methods to promote the mental health of adolescents.
