Abstract
Critical Discourse Analysis is a common theory used to analyze the discourse of news reports, and reveals the ideology hidden behind the language through text analysis. This paper takes BBC news reports on the Belt and Road Initiative as the material, and adopts Halliday's Systemic-functional Grammar to conduct a qualitative study on it. The aim is to summarize the attitudes and views of the Western media, represented by the BBC, towards the Belt and Road through the analysis of the discourse in the reports, and the thinking caused by it.
