Abstract
The changing role of the legal translator is an interesting phenomenon in the history of translation. It is the result of the interaction of both linguistic and cultural factors. The changing role of the legal translator reflects the changing status of the target language compared with the source language as well as the changing relationship between cultures. The present thesis intends to avail of the polysystem theory and the skopos theory to do some research in order to find out in what way the role of the legal translator has changed with the development of society.
