Abstract
The article covers a specific theme of the assessment of the effectiveness of the national drug traffic counteracting authorities on the Northern Afghan Route. The main hypothesis of the article is that the effectiveness of the drug counteracting authorities depends on the costs of drugs crossing the border of the country. The analysis allows to conclude that the North Route is effective for the cartels due to the low effectiveness of authorities’ actions in counteracting drug trafficking and high corruption level. The authors provide the framework of the future cooperation strategies for the Central Asian countries and the EAEU. The article reveals the negative effect of the single EAEU custom borders on the drug trafficking in Russia and the deviation of the drug price in Turkmenistan.
