Abstract

This study examines the prosodic features of a Mandarin discourse marker nibuzhidao under different functions. The result reveals that four types of nibuzhidao have differences in acoustic features, including pause, pitch accent, speed and mean pitch. It could be concluded that there is close correspondence between functions and prosody.
