Abstract
College English teaching has aroused widespread concern in society. Although the college English teaching has made some progress in the past 20 years, the gap between the requirements of economic and technological development has become larger and larger, and the phenomenon of “time-consuming and inefficient” is serious. In the first decade of the 21st century, college English teaching ushered in a new, all-encompassing challenge. At the same time, it faces an opportunity for in-depth reform and further development. At the same time of opportunities and challenges, the reorientation of college English teaching and the inevitable trend in the future have attracted the attention of education management departments, society and the majority of English teachers. This paper introduces the current situation of college English teaching, puts forward the challenges faced by current college English teaching, and discusses the strategies adopted by college English teaching to meet the challenges.
