Abstract
Idealized Cognitive Models (ICM) has been widely used in foreign language teaching as cognitive linguistics. This study applies the ICM to English reading teaching of Graded Teaching of College English. By a contrast CET4 model tests experiment based on the ICM teaching on Class C of Textile Engineering majors, with the SPSS quantitative analysis, it endeavors to check whether the models are effective, and explores the ways and expected result of Graded Teaching of College English reform. The result shows that the construction of ICM will help students with not good foundation to improve their reading abilities and learning strategies.
