Abstract
Transfer hydrogenation of ketones was efficiently implemented with a ruthenium catalyst [(p-cymene) RuCl2]2 in an effective 2,2′-bibenzimidazole ligand in 2-propanol at 130 °C. This scheme provides a method for the synthesis of alcohols from ketones including methyl, halogens, and trifluoromethoxy in good to excellent yields. The preparation method of the catalyst and the experimental operation is simple, and the reaction can be carried out in the air. Moreover, the reaction can also be expanded to the gram level, and it is conceivable that there will be brilliant application prospects in the industry in future.
