Abstract

With the rapid development of the Internet, online teaching has become the development direction of modern educational technology, and college English teaching is also in this torrent. This new English teaching model has been accepted by teachers and students because it has greatly improved the traditional teaching environment, optimized foreign language teaching resources, teaching process and teaching objectives, and improved students' learning efficiency and teachers' teaching effect. The new teaching mode should be supported by modern information technology, especially network technology, so that English teaching is not limited by time and place, and develops towards individualized learning and autonomous learning. This paper analyzes the characteristics of multimedia and network technology and their specific application in college English teaching, and points out that the college English teaching mode based on network platform provides a new means for teachers and students to realize autonomous, selective and interactive teaching through network platform, thus improving the quality of college English teaching and enhancing students' interest in learning English.
